If your guests are going to see it, touch it, sit on it, eat it, drink it or experience it, give it some consideration.
That doesn't mean everything needs to be expensive. It means your budget should prioritize the parts of the celebration that shape the guest experience.
Think:
Great food.
Comfortable seating.
A good DJ or entertainment.
A well-designed space.
A great bar experience.
Interactive elements.
And yes… enough staff to keep everything running smoothly.
Your guests don't know what your spreadsheet looks like.

You do not need every cute idea you've ever saved.

Custom cups, matches, coasters, favor boxes, menus, fans, napkins, straws AND seventeen other things with your initials on them?
Okay. We may have gone too far.
Choose a few intentional personalized details and let those shine.

We've said it before and we'll probably say it again:
Please turn off the big light.
Lighting can completely change how a space feels.
Warm uplighting, candlelight, chandeliers, pin spotting and other ambient lighting can take a fairly simple room and make it feel intimate, romantic and elevated.
It also affects your photos—which means you'll be looking at that lighting long after the event ends.
If your décor budget is limited, good lighting can sometimes give you more impact than adding another centerpiece or floral arrangement.
SAVE: Decorating Every Single Corner
Every empty space does not need something in it.
Say it with us.
You don't need décor in every corner of the venue simply because the corner exists.
Instead, identify the spaces your guests will interact with most:
The entrance.
The tables.
The bar.
The dance floor.
The sweetheart or head table.
The photo area.
Focus your budget there.
Strategic empty space can actually make your statement pieces feel more luxurious, not less.
SPLURGE: One Major WOW Moment
If we have to choose between ten little décor moments and one unforgettable one, we're choosing the unforgettable one.
Every. Single. Time.
Maybe it's a gorgeous entrance installation.
A dramatic ceremony backdrop.
An incredible sweetheart table.
A custom dance floor.
A fabulous bar.
An oversized seating chart.
A statement photo experience.
Whatever it is, choose the moment you want guests to remember and give it enough budget to actually make an impact.
You want:
“WAIT. We have to take a picture over there.”
That's the reaction.
SAVE: Trying to Make Everything the WOW Moment
Here's where event budgets can get into trouble.
The welcome sign needs flowers.
The bar needs flowers.
The seating chart needs flowers.
The cake needs flowers.
The bathroom suddenly needs flowers.

Step away from the florals.
When everything is competing for attention, nothing really stands out.
Choose your stars and let the supporting details support them.
SPLURGE: Photography & the Memories
Your event might last five hours.
The photos last much longer.
A great photographer doesn't just document what everything looked like, they capture the people, reactions, details and moments you didn't even realize were happening.
If professional photography matters to you, this is not where we'd recommend choosing solely based on the lowest price.
And while we're talking memories…
Consider giving your guests a way to create some of their own.
Photo booths, printed photos, 360 experiences and other interactive photo moments can become both entertainment and keepsakes.
We love a detail that can multitask.
SAVE: Favors Nobody Asked For
We're just going to say it.
You probably don't need 150 tiny objects with your name and event date printed on them.
If you're giving guests a favor, make it useful, edible, personal or part of the experience.
Otherwise, put that money somewhere they'll actually notice.
And please don't make yourself sad when you find 37 favors still sitting on a table after everybody leaves.
SPLURGE: Professional Help
This one isn't as glamorous as flowers or chandeliers, but it can completely change your experience.
If your event has multiple vendors, a detailed setup, a timeline and lots of moving pieces, having professional planning or coordination can be worth every penny.
Because there is a difference between:
Hosting your event
and
working your event.
Someone needs to communicate with vendors.
Someone needs to know the timeline.
Someone needs to oversee setup.
Someone needs to answer the 47 questions that will somehow appear on event day.
And ideally?
That someone is not you.
SAVE: Things That Simply Don't Matter to You
This might be the most important one.
Your priorities don't have to match anyone else's.
Maybe flowers aren't important to you.
Maybe you couldn't care less about favors.
